5月7日, 2024 — In less than two weeks, undergraduate and graduate students will gather to receive their Marist degrees and commemorate a major milestone in their lives.

The undergraduates began their Marist journey in August 2020, navigating times of optimism, 不确定性, 和更新. Their achievements are impressive, having surpassed academic expectations and actively contributed to both campus and community life.

Graduate students attended classes in-person and online and come from a diverse range of backgrounds and professions. Many students are completing accelerated degree programs, earning a graduate degree that began in their senior year of undergraduate studies. Others are earning graduate degrees to advance their careers or open new professional doors.

Despite facing unique challenges, the Class of 2024 engaged in more undergraduate research projects with faculty mentors than ever before, evidenced in Marist’s recent celebration of student research, which was the largest since it was started over twenty years ago.

“This class worked hard to improve the world through their educations by interning and applying their knowledge to solve important social, 经济, and intellectual challenges,”医生说。. James Snyder, Dean for Academic Engagement. “They also had fun while pursuing the highest level of academics; they were more engaged in clubs and student government than ever before, and this contributed to a thriving and vibrant academic culture. I am so happy to have worked with them over the last four years, and I am especially excited to see what the future holds for them.”

The Class of 2024 also demonstrated a deep commitment to the community, applying their classroom learning to various initiatives.

“They worked alongside elected officials, with local nonprofit organizations, and engaged their peers in efforts that built bridges between Marist and the greater Poughkeepsie community,”医生说。. Melissa Gaeke, Director of the Center for Civic Engagement and 领导. “Their efforts demonstrate the importance of service and how to make a meaningful contribution to the world around us, two things we value so highly here at Marist.”

This issue is dedicated to celebrating the Class of 2024, whose accomplishments make the Marist community proud. Here are some of their stories:
